Privacy notice
Last updated: 8 October 2026
This notice explains what personal data prodan.dev collects, why, and what you can do about it. It covers this website and enquiries you send me.
Who I am
The data controller is Denis Prodan. Contact me about anything in this notice at hi@prodan.dev.
What I collect and why
- Enquiries. If you contact me by email, Telegram or LinkedIn, I get your name, contact details and whatever you write. I use it to reply and, if we decide to work together, to set up the engagement. Lawful basis: my legitimate interest in answering enquiries, or steps you ask for before entering a contract. Telegram and LinkedIn also process these messages under their own policies.
- Call bookings. If you book a call through Calendly, Calendly collects your name, email and the details you enter, and shares them with me so we can meet. Lawful basis: steps you ask for before entering a contract. See Calendly's privacy notice.
- Hosting logs. The site is hosted by Netlify. Like any web server, it records technical data for each request, such as IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. This is used for security and to keep the site running. Lawful basis: legitimate interests. See Netlify's privacy statement.
- Analytics, only if you accept. If you click Accept on the cookie banner, Google Analytics 4 records how the site is used: pages viewed, which links and buttons are clicked, rough location, device and browser. I use it to see which parts of the site are useful. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. Lawful basis: your consent. If you decline, Google Analytics is never loaded. See Google's privacy policy.
I do not run a mailing list, sell data, use it for advertising, or make automated decisions about you. Giving me your details is voluntary. Without them I just cannot reply.
Cookies and similar storage
| Name | Set by | Purpose | Expires |
|---|---|---|---|
| ga-consent | This site (browser local storage, not a cookie) | Remembers whether you accepted or declined analytics. Strictly necessary, holds no personal data. | Until you clear site data |
| _ga | Google Analytics, only after you accept | Tells visits from the same browser apart. | 2 years |
| _ga_ZZQTGNH6JN | Google Analytics, only after you accept | Keeps track of the current visit. | 2 years |
Some browsers delete these cookies sooner. You can change your choice at any time with , which is also at the bottom of every page. If you decline after accepting, the Google Analytics cookies are deleted.
Music player on one demo page. The music player on the Frutiger Aero demo page plays tracks through YouTube's privacy-enhanced embed (youtube-nocookie.com). Nothing from YouTube loads until you press play. Once you do, YouTube may store data in your browser and receives your IP address and what you play, under Google's privacy policy. Lawful basis: you choose to start playback.
How long I keep data
- Enquiries that do not lead to work: up to 2 years after our last contact.
- Client records: for the engagement, then as long as UK tax law requires (usually 6 years).
- Google Analytics: visit-level data is deleted after 2 months. Aggregated reports with no personal data may be kept longer.
- Hosting logs: kept by Netlify for a short period for security and troubleshooting.
Who else receives data
Only the services named above: Netlify (hosting), Google (analytics, if you accept, and YouTube, if you play music on the demo page), Calendly (bookings), my email provider, and Telegram or LinkedIn if you contact me there. Some of them are based in the United States. Where data leaves the UK or EU, they rely on the UK-US data bridge and EU-US Data Privacy Framework, or on standard contractual clauses.
Your rights
You can ask me to give you a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, restrict how I use it, or send it to someone else. You can object to anything I do based on legitimate interests, and you can withdraw consent for analytics at any time. Email hi@prodan.dev and I will reply within one month.
If you are not happy with how I handle your data, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113. If you live in the EU, you can also contact your local data protection authority. I would appreciate the chance to sort it out first.
